How to Text Someone You Like Without Being Boring
The mistake most people make is talking too much about logistics. Here's how to text in a way that actually builds attraction.
The biggest mistake in texting someone you like? Treating texting like email. Logistics, status updates, 'what's up' loops. Here's a better playbook.
Tell stories, don't just report facts
Bad: 'I'm at the grocery store.' Good: 'I'm at the grocery store and there's a guy in the cereal aisle having a full debate with himself about Frosted Flakes vs Frosted Mini Wheats. I'm rooting for the underdog.' Same situation. Wildly different text.
Be the one who names the vibe
Tease them. Notice things. Say the thing. 'Okay you're funnier over text than you let on in person — what's the deal' is a killer message because it's confident, specific, and inviting.
Don't double-text out of anxiety
If you sent something and they haven't replied yet — wait. Following up your own message with 'haha sorry random' kills the energy. Trust the message you sent.
End on a hook
The best texts end with something they can react to. A question. A challenge. A callback. Dead-end texts ('cool, sounds good') don't get replies, and they don't deserve them.
